An open letter to my first world race team.
Dear Flocka,
We found each other by crawling around blind folded and baa-ing at each other. At that moment I had no idea how much we would grow and learn together. We were just a bunch of strangers that all said Yes to the Lord. We chatted a little bit between training camp and launch, but we still didn’t really know anything about one another.
At launch we gained our TL, what an incredible man of God. He taught us how to live in community, be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, and to walk in FREEDOM. These were all things he made normal on the first day together. At that point each of us had to buy in and choose whether or not we wanted to go on this journey and do it together. I am so thankful that each of you said yes.
Once we knew we’d be going to Honduras instead of Guatemala reality set in. “This is really happening. This is who I will be living with for the next few months.” As these thoughts came into my head I was nervous. Nervous that you wouldn’t like me if you knew the real me. Worried that I was going to have to put on a front in order to be loved by each of you. Worried that I would get hurt if I stepped into vulnerability.
Thank you for not making that the case.Thank you for accepting me as I am. Thank you for being willing to jump straight into hard conversations. Thank you for loving me well. Thank you for listening and cheering me on every step of my walk, always encouraging me to push more into Him. Thank you for your wise words, your laugher, our inside jokes about peanut butter, corn tortillas, Bunion Babies Extermination, and Bunion Babies Productions, and countless other random memories I’ll never forget. Thank you for helping me learn what it looks like to live in Christian Community. Thank you for helping me learn what it looks like to buy in when you really don’t want to. What it looks like to choose each other when it’s difficult. Thank you each for your friendship and for being my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Love you always
